- Music. How it’s made. How it’s written. How it all comes together to make a song.
- How people’s taste and preferences develop.
I’m friends with a few musicians. And I think it’s so cool to sit around and listen to them play. I am fascinated that someone can strum strings on a guitar and have it sound so good (like, the bridge in “Big Dipper”…LOVE IT!). It’s also crazy to just think where the song came from. And, like, how do you even write a song, and how you create music for it, and then are able to sing it. You’re literally creating something out of nothing. It baffles me.
How do people figure out that they like something? Whether it’s food, or clothes, or color, or music. How can some people be really into something like tattoos and piercings, and other people can’t stand them? Or, how can some people live to ride roller coasters, and other people never really care to do it?
How do people develop into “dare devils” and others into “fraidy cats”?? How are some people REALLY outgoing, and can do anything without being embarrassed, and can go up and ask someone out, or can just talk to anyone without it being a problem, and some people can’t even function around people.
I’m sure that if I were to actually pay attention on psychology I would be able to answer some of those questions. Buuuuuuuuttt I don’t.
I think that the music questions will never be fully answered. But, I can just sit and listen to music for the rest of my life, and try to figure it out.
(On the subject of music) Sometimes I wonder if there will ever be no more songs to be written. Does that make any sense (like you’re going to answer me). But, really think about it. Out of all of the millions of songs that have ever been written, songs about love, and heartbreak, teenage angst, being sad, being happy, being groovy! Songs about a person or event, about space. Songs about anything. Is it possible that one day there will be nothing left to sing about? Will Dashboard Confessional ever run out of material from when Chris’ girlfriend broke up with him 15 years ago? (I love my Dashboard, but I had to put that out there.) Will the Counting Crows ever stop making cool songs about weird things with odd language? And if they do, will anyone pick up where they left off?
Ok, that’s enough thought for now.

i always wonder about that! are there really enough chord progressions to never ever run out of new stuff? but then, new people are born every day and they're different (like, really different). plus, our different minds are so amazingly complex that i bet there will always be new things to write about. also, people don't get tired of essentially the same movie (romantic comedies). so songs and movies share themes but something makes them unique and wonderful. i guess. haha.
