First, let's start off easy. I've been sick since just after an interview on Thursday afternoon (I think I got the job, though). Right now, I think it's just allergies/head cold, but I still feel like a big pile of crap.
So, Thursday night, Lindsay accompanied me to Ingles to get some meds. I thought that one box of Dayquil would do the trick. But it didn't.
So today, I ran out of magic pills that let me breathe. So, I made the voyage to CVS solo.
I got about 3 boxes of magic pills (I don't want to run out again!), payed, went to McDonalds (I was craving a fountain Dr. Pepper), then came back to my room.
I got back around 6 pm, because, of course, I slept all day.
I got in my room, sucked down the drink with magic pills, and preceeded to pass the fuck out. I love magic pills.
I woke up when Lindsay called me. She was heading back from work around 11pm. We decided to grab something to eat together. So, I threw on a dress, my glasses, and grabbed my cell phone. I got my keys. But I was missing my wallet thing. I have one of those "wallet" things that is just for cards. I couldn't find it. It had my license, debit card, credit card, and a few ones from going to CVS before.
But, Lindsay was waiting on me, so I grabbed my other credit card out of my REAL wallet, and ran to the car.
I told Lindsay that I knew, just KNEW my wallet was in the room. Because I remember putting the ring thing around my pinky when I got out of my car earlier.
So, we ran to Wendy's, and I decided to look in my car when we got back. But, I didn't have my keys, so I put my cell phone up to the window, and attempted to see though the glare. Nada.
I got my food from Lindsay's car and came to my room.
I tore my room apart looking for the damn thing. Nada.
I went back outside, and called Lindsay (it's sketch as hell outside at night here..I needed a friendly voice).
Lindsay was just telling me to call and cancel my cards and everything when I was rummaging through my car.
So, I'm still on the phone, going though the dash. I knew it wasn't there but thank god I looked, because as I was looking through the dash, I looked up and saw what appeared to be an apparition of my beloved wallet thing.
On the phone, all Lindsay heard was "OMG OMG OMG OMG WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" (I was actually kind of freaked out because it looked REALLY weird). Then, I realized that it was outside. It looked like the wallet had been propped just above the wheel, at the glass of the windshield.
I JUMPED out of my car, and ran to the front, to find that someone had put it under the wiper. OMG!!!
I quickly unzipped it, and found my license, debit and credit cards and $6.
I must have dropped it just outside of my car door, because whoever the good samaritan was could tell the wallet belonged to my car.
OMG!!! I'm SOOO happy I don't have to go through the hassle of cancelling cards, and getting a new license. And, from now on, I'm going to but the keyring on my keys, like I'm supposed to.
Whoever was in front of Governor's Hall today and found my wallet I AM VERY GRATEFUL! Now, it's time to pay it forward.
To inspire you, listen to this "oldie" and go forth and do good...because I know you will...

New Ringtone
This is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time.
Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong
Tonight
I throw myself into
And out of the red, out of her head she sang
Come down
And waste away with me
Down with me
Slow how
You wanted it to be
I'm over my head, out of her head she sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
Breathe out
So I could breathe you in
Hold you in
And now
I know you've always been
Out of your head, out of my head I sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you

Do you?
Do you know how to tell when the transition from adolescence to adulthood is taking place?
When you stop getting over guys with Ben and Jerry's and drink a bottle of wine instead.
(He didn't show...and didn't even call.)
I'll get to my grad school post, promise....I'm still working out the fine details.

Karmic Retribution?
Let me begin this post with a disclaimer: I can be a flake. I can be a flake when I don't realize that I am, I can be flakey and completely mean it. I think all of us can, really. But I will admit, sometimes I can flake. (It really just depends on the situation)
Saying that. I think my karma has come back to bite me in the ass.
Now, I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'm pretty sure I posted about the "date" I had with a guy named Phil a few months ago. The date from hell?? At Chili's?
If not, I had a crappy date with this guy named Phil at Chili's over Spring Break (I think).
I hadn't really talked to him since then, and then a couple of weeks ago, we started talking on IM and he started texting me again. Alright. It's ok. I was PISSED at first, "Who does he think he is? You can't not talk to me for two months...." and then I remembered how much I had liked him.
So, last week, we're talking and he says that he wants to come visit me.
Whoaaaaaaaaa. Whoaaaaaa. WHAT?
So, we made semi-plans for him to come up and spend two nights, this coming weekend.
Now, Phil can be a flake, just as much as I can. The night before I was coming back to school after some break (Christmas maybe?) we were supposed to meet up. He never called, never texted, never showed. That one hurt. We had had a couple of things before then, and then he totally dropped me.
So, I'm REALLY excited for this weekend (not only is Phil SUPPOSED to come up, but I'm going to a Tourist game on Thursday, and there's a big party on Saturday night...so I have plans), but in the back of my head, I'm so afraid he's going to flake on me....again.
I know what you're thinking. "Courtney...why are you even still in communication with this bozo?"
I have nothing to say for myself. I'm not attracted to the 'bad boy' (and I truly don't think that Phil is one) I'm just REALLY attracted to him. And it sucks. Because I can see where this has the potential to go...and of course I don't like it.
So, is this my karma? Is this my punishment for all of those unreturned calls, texts, messages (legit or not?)??
I guess I'll let you know Saturday (when he's supposed to come up).
*This is kind of a note for myself...and you can bother me about it until I post it...but I think I have a grad school plan...it's a goodie too, so I need to write it out*

ROTFL!!!!!!
Y tu?
So, I'm sitting in my econ class on the first day, and Bricker (teacher) tells us that his goal, by the end of the class, is for us to see and recognize false reports by the media.
His example, the nightly news warns of a depression because we're in a recession. Actually, people, we're NOT. A recession is defined as two consecutive quarters where there is negative GDP...we haven't had that...yet.
I knew that. Duh. I yell at the tv everytime I watch the news because they always say that. SHUT UP. We're CLOSE to a recession, YES, and depression...a little more far off. But still. STOP IT.
So, I'm sitting in my health class on the first day, and DeWeese says "My goal at the end of this term is for you to be able to read 'Mens Health' or 'anotherfitnessmagazinethatIcan'trememberthenameofnow', and be able to say 'that diet plan's shit' or 'that's not what that means'"
Also, in my stats class last semester, Dr. Hartsfield said the same thing.
My question: If all college classes (or most) are trying to disspell rumors/wrong facts in the media...wouldn't the media get better at reporting, because every year thousands of people enter the media in new positions, from college. Is no one learning in college? Or is the business SO corrupted (for lack of a better word) that all of these new faces and educations cannot change it?
Now, I know that not every class offers this goal, and the fact that I had three classes, very close together is the reason this question came up. But, if you think about it...a lot of classes have the ability to teach a person to THINK when watching tv, reading magazines, etc., not just take what Ryan Seacrest says for face value.
Does this make any sense?
As weird as it sounds, I have just began to truely value my education. In the summer of 2005, I was taking classes at Surry and I had Micro Economics with Amber (my future sister-in-law), and we had to do a problem about something we could no live without. Something we LOVED and there were no substitutions for us. I wrote about Peach Yogurt, because it was my favorite at the time.
Amber wrote about her education. She said it was invaluable to her. I could see what she was saying but I didn't grasp the message behind it. I didn't understand what she was SAYING. I took it for face value.
I have reached a point in my life and collegiate career where I finally GET IT. I may not know what I want to do with my life, but I know that college is the only way to get there. Now, I don't think that EVERYONE should go to college, go if you want. But I know that if I weren't in college, I would be working a minimum wage job, living paycheck to paycheck, miserable.
After college, I may not get a GREAT JOB, but maybe I'll get one I can tolerate and can work from there, figure myself out, know where I'm going, and more importantly, where I've been.
Where does this all tie in? I used to just want to come to college, have fun at parties, drink, and get through classes. And, I'm not going to lie, looking at the classes I have to take soon, I just want to get though some of them, too. But I want to get something out of it. What's the point of spending $40,000 + on an education, if all you have is a piece of paper hanging on the wall, and a brain full of nightly news?
Maybe this was just for me to think on, but maybe you can get something out of my rambling, too.
Ohh, and I'm sure I'm going to write a post in a while that completely contradicts this post. Yeah.
