I'm listening to "The District sleeps alone tonight" by The Postal Service as we're entering DC. Words annot describe how excited I am at this very second!!!!!!
The sun is rising over Liberty University.
Just passed through Charlotte, NC...as much as I dilike this city in the daytime, it's beautiful at night! I looked up JUST as we were passing the stadium!!
I'm on the train on the way to DC. I'm somewhere in mid NC. I'm LOVING it so far!! Now that I can send messages from my phone, this will be updated more often!!

Ohh yeahhhh

So, for my integration of technology in business class I'm creating a website..I'm not sure what all the final iteration will have on it (something for our clients) but here's the link to my site and I'll update it when she makes me basically.

Making a website this semester = design lab from last semester

(and I actually REALLY enjoy it!!)

Lightbulb moment.

It's just past 3am, and we have a "late start" day tomorrow because of the snow. I also cannot sleep, therefore, will attempt to elaborate on the past post.

You see, a few years ago, I didn't understand how the world works. I still have a lot to learn, yes, but I've also been granted certain knowledge.

If I weren't too lazy, I could find the post from (what seems like) FOREVER ago when I came up with a grad school master plan. That plan, had be going to graduate school to get my MBA. I've learned since then.

I'm getting a degree in management (a business degree at any other school..but I go to a liberal arts university where they like to do things just a little off point). I hate business. It's too competitive. And, most of it is complete total common sense with fancy words thrown in. No thanks.

So, after working at a job that I have fallen in LOVE with the past two years, and having my boss FINALLY break through to me... I've learned that my "I never want to grow up and leave college" dream was actually my biggest asset. Yes, I'll have to grow up, but I never want to leave college. This atmosphere of learning, and being with young adults is my favorite.

So, the wonderful and patient CD of Mills Hall, my boss for the past two years, finally broke through to me. I love my job as an RA and I love the vibe of college. Why don't I work in student affairs at a college?

This is one of those jobs that doesn't really have a "place" on those billions of lists you're told to look at when you're trying to decide your major, or your career. This is one of those jobs that you don't realize exits. Like the person who is in charge of (ok, ok, I can't think of anything right now, but I hope you get the picture).

Now, the point of this post is to explain this story and its relevance to the previous post...

"I'm afraid I found out this is what I wanted too late."

Again, I'm too lazy to go back and find the post that talks about my crappy past semesters (grade wise). See, what had happened was, I wasn't interested in class, and I had ABSOLUTELY no direction. So, I never went to class because I thought they were worthless, and I did assignments half-assed. I was LOVING everything about school, except the school part. That's when Mark broke through and explained this whole world of careers in student affairs...and the way to get to this awesome fun stuff...was through grad school.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh. You have to be pretty smart to get into grad school...don't you?

I am not making excuses for my past academic performance, I can only say that I've begun the process of pulling my GPA out of the toilet and getting on the grad school train.

At first, I was worried about this new plan. But the more and more I've considered it and weighed my options, it really is the best plan for me. (I've said it before, I know) I love college, and I love being an RA and I love this idea of getting to work with college kids.

So, I've decided that even though I hate my management classes (it's FAR too late to get my degree in something else..I'm only 5 classes from graduating), but I'm going to make them my priority. I'm here to go to school, not to major in being an RA. RA, is of course, second on my priorities. I love this, and I want to be better at it. It's the first time I've felt driven about what I'm doing.

This hasn't been nearly as long as I thought it would be, but that's OK. I've got much longer to explain my interest in my future. And I'll be doing TONS of late night research and prep for graduate school, so I'll be on late to update my loyal readers on my progress.

For now, I can only hope that all three or four of you are doing well and are happy.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Loves,

CoCo
